Month 3 of 12 months Of “FUN”draising and to be honest it was the lovely Ant that really took on the challenge this month, when he agreed to run the Shrewsbury Half Marathon for us.
Despite some nerves
He smashed it !! In a mere 2 hrs.
Of course we couldn’t let him go it alone but NO way was Sam willing (or able) to run 13 miles, the kids however were more than up for the fun run and “Team Run A Mile In My Shoes” was born.
We started with some warm ups
The mile long course was no problem for the 8 strong team of children
and they soon left Top Banana behind
but we all made it round the course and then the anxious wait for Ant began.
As he entered the show ground they ran to meet him, they ran the home straight with him and after 2 hrs and 13 miles did Ant get water, his medal, a photo ?? No, he went straight to kids after he crossed the line.
That is why Empathy is not a support group or kids activity, 5 years on we are a family and why we are living this Fundraising madness.
So inspired by Ant are the kids, that 2 of team “Run A Mile In My Shoes” have signed up to the Junior Triathlon in August and we are now looking at a regular running club for the kids.
Thank you to all those have sponsored and supported so far, you are changing lives. If you haven’t got around to it yet there are still lots of opportunities for individuals and business to get involved.
